Shane Pack The Journal

Welcome to the first edition of the journal. I thought I'd devise a space where I could keep you up to date on the latest happenings. Let's see, I've begun work on my third "homemade CD". I have the pictures that will be on the cover and inside jacket, and I've recorded three songs that will appear on the CD. The title is going to be "Night Lights". The songs I've recorded so far are, "Coming Down", "Getting Old", and "I Guess It Don't Matter". All three are older songs that I wrote several years ago, but I thought they deserved another chance. I don't like the first draft versions of any of the three songs, so I'll try to re-record them this week. I'm planning on posting some of the new recordings here so you can preview them. Other than that, there's not a lot going on, so I'll update soon!
Peace, Shane Pack.

I redesigned and simplified the site a while back to make it easier to see what's here and navigate through the pages. Today, I went and added the downloadable tracks back to the front page for easier access. I also added the three new tracks that will appear on my next CD, give them a listen and let me know what you think......

Added the feedback form at the bottom of the page today. Can't think of any good questions to ask though. Been listening to Todd Snider's East Nashville Skyline, my favorite of his by far. Worked on some words to a new tune the other day, may get recorded this week if I can find the time.....goes like this.....

Momma won't you buy me a milking cow
Crops dried up and the horse won't plow
Got to find a way to make a living some how
If I'm gonna save this farm......

Drop me a line,
Shane

Officially started my vacation today. Kimmy took the baby to Crossville with her, so I sat down and recorded three songs which I'm adding under the Night Lights column. Got mad at the pug cause he barked while I was recording Garbage Can. If you listen real close you can hear it.Later.

I'm on vacation this week hanging around the house and keeping baby Lucas. I've been working on my 3rd CD, Night Lights. I'm up to nine songs today. Not many new ones. I finished "Going Fishing" yesterday and recorded it. Most of the songs are older ones that I'm reviving. I'm working on a new one tonight called "Number Nine". It's going to be about a guy that loves homemade whiskey. I re-recorded "Outer Space Primate" today and got it posted. That's just about it,

I discovered a great new site called SoundClick. It lets me post my tunes there and with a click you can begin listening almost instantly. A lot better download time than this website. I've got 11 or 12 songs posted there now, and am mostly posting new ones as I get them done. Hopefully I'll have Night Lights done in a few more weeks. I've got a new tune called Yellow Dog that I'm working on. Maybe when I finish it and one or two more it'll be ready. Guess that's it for now,
Until next time, Shane Pack

Wow, it's been a long time since I updated here. Night Lights is finally finished after a long while. Finally got it to 12 songs that I thought were acceptable. I think it has 7 songs written in the past that I've reworked and rerecorded, and 5 newly written ones. I've let several people hear it and they're saying it's the best of the three so far. I spent a lot more time on this one, so I hope everyone enjoys it. I've already started writing again for my next CD project which will be called Seasons. Right now I'm working on lyrics for a tune that will probably be called "Little Angel". "Hey little angel don't you want to fly/hey little angel don't you cry......" See you next trip

Okay, so I've recorded three songs so far for the new album, "Hey Little Angel", "Soldier's Going Home", and "Hate That's Almost Love". They'll have to go through some rewrites and records, but I'm happy with those three so far. Got a couple of new one's in the works, and I'll get some samples posted on the main page so you can check them out as they're recorded. That's it for now,

Wow, I haven't added anything here in a while, and I guess it's all for good reasons. Call it writers block or laziness or whatever, but I've been musically non-existent for a while now. I did write "Call Me" the other day and I'm working on a few more new tunes, so maybe the song faucet has been turned back on for a while. Who knows? Catch you later,
Shane

Okay, so the streak is broken. After writing "Call Me", I've written and recorded "My Mullet Has Wings". I always wanted a mullet song, so there you go. I've also got a couple of other tunes in the works. One almost written that needs to be recorded. No name for it yet. So we're six songs into this new "Seasons" project. Hopefully it will be finished this year. That will be 2 CD Projects completed in one year. Maybe in 2008 I can do three or four. Wouldn't that be a riot?
Peace

Well it seems that I'm back to writing again. I've finished re-recording "Soldiers Going Home", written and recorded "I Wanna Go Home" - huh, two home songs - I'll have to work on that.....I found the lyrics to "Lost Pennies" originally titled "Falling Down" and recorded it. So I think we're up to around 9 songs for the new CD project. I need at least 12, so I'll have to hurry to finish by year's end. Be cool out there in webland,
Shane Pack
